The Project:
RIVE – Rivers of Europe is an international artistic, civic and educational initiative, also developing a sense of European identity through an intercultural dialogue. Conceptionalized as a transfer of culture between local audiencesin countries lying mainly at the riverside of the Danube, but also Vistula, Oder, Rhein and others the project tries to respond to the question of the present and future meaning of rivers, historically not only a main source and center of life, but carriers of meaning for human interaction. We connect people from various local communities to culturally share experiences and values approaching life as a continuous flow of creation. Intercultural dialogue based on artistic and educational methods provides answers to topics such as stability and change, sediments and sentiments or longing and belonging.
After a phase of common creation, in summer and early autumn 2014 amultinational artistic team will embark on a journey, travelling the along the Danube from Germany down to Romania and Bulgaria on a specifically designed floating venue. The ship cruise will be followed by a number of additional presentations in Poland and Germany (journey organized by bus). The involved artists will work on these specific topics according to the following disciplines: music, visual art, performing art, fine art and design, which are also invited to collaborate in form and content. Due to its specific nature for the programme RIVE – Rivers of Europe program we are looking for multidisciplinary artists – nevertheless this call is also open for artists who would like to connect especially to either of the above mentioned disciplines.
